Review Tour 1998

GRAND SLAM
"On tour - winter '98" featuring GARY "MudBone" COOPER
P-Funk & more for your mind, body & soulP-Funk! Uncut Funk!! The Bomb!!!

The Mothership strikes back, Thumpin' basses, phatt beats, pumpin' keyboards and screamin´ guitars, on top of that add up to 4-piece harmony vocals and you´ve got it: The German-American Funkband GRAND SLAM is back on tour.

Performing for almost 14 years on Germany's clubstages and festivals, they are hotter than ever in 1998!! 2 and a half hours nonstop show, P-Funk, HipHop vibes, Soul- and Gospelinfluences, to sum it up: A show with a big variety of black music styles showing the groove on the move.

To be even closer to Funkfather George Clinton, the 10 musicians added an extraordinary attraction in summer '97: About 45 minutes into the show it's startime: Brother GARY "MUDBONE" COOPER, the original lead-vocalist of Bootsy Collins´ Rubber Band, George Clinton's P-funk All-stars and Parliament/ Funkadelic, enters centerstage.

His soulful passion in voice and performance surely moves any audience and delivers a very special musical highlight.
Mudbones professional career started in 1973 joining George Clinton's Funkadelic, that made it from a psychedelic underground-act to the celebrated P-Funk hitfactory. Since '74 he has been playing with Bootsy Collins, starting the 80s at the P-Funk Allstars, he then scored a world-wide hit in 1985 with his solo-project "SLY FOX" ("Let's go all the way"). He stays extremely busy in studio-projects and is back on the road with Bootsy Collins George Clinton as well as Jack Bruce and Jonas Hellborg in the late 80s.

In the course of his 25 years of career in music he has been taking part in more than 200 record-productions as vocalist, drummer, arranger, composer and producer, selling an enormous over 20 million.
As a original member of Parliament/ Funkadelic he was inducted into the Rock&n Roll Hall of Fame last May!

Mudbone will be performing on stage with GRAND SLAM the entire upcoming tour. Also the new production (release '99) features him as leadvocalist, arranger and producer. In 6 short but intense tours in the last 2 years, GRAND SLAM has proven this concept to be very succesful, earning them the reputation of being one of Europe's first Funkacts.

For the "Funky Easter"-tour '99 they have added yet another surprise, now featuring trumpet player RICK GARDNER out of Las Vegas, who will also introduce a couple of songs from his current solo-album "The Gardner of Funk". Rick Gardner has been a member of Bootsy Collins' Rubber Band since '75, playing with Fred Wesley & the Horny Horns from '75 to '95, 1980 with Marvin Gaye, '97 with Maceo Parker and many more. The original first trumpet-player of the undenieable most succesful and recommended hornsection of the world (Horny Horns: Fred Wesley, Maceo parker, Kush Griffith, Rick Gardner) will also be part of the GRAND SLAM performance andso the venues are guaranteed to rumble, when GRAND SLAM hits the stage!
